Explore the comparison and planning advice

Who takes the plunge from the driveway to its place?

You've chosen the tub and can picture it beside the sauna. Then checkout asks you to choose a delivery service. The cheaper option ends at the curb, and suddenly there is another job between buying the plunge and enjoying the finished room.

Decide who will own that move before ordering. In-home placement is worth considering if it reaches the agreed destination and saves you arranging a separate qualified handling team. Curbside delivery may be perfectly workable when your installer has included the remaining work. Don't leave that responsibility as an assumption for delivery morning.

Read the service description for your model and address

Plunge's delivery page distinguishes curbside service from in-home placement. Its in-home description includes entry-level placement and packaging removal, while expressly excluding assembly and setup. Its curbside description excludes placement inside, setup and packaging removal. Those are supplier-specific service boundaries, not definitions every seller follows.

Ask the seller which options apply to the exact tub, chiller package and address in your order. Product and destination restrictions matter. Save the applicable service description with the quote rather than relying on a general free-shipping banner or the options offered for another model.

Name the destination instead of saying inside

Explain whether the plunge belongs on the entrance level, downstairs, upstairs or beyond an outdoor route. Ask the delivery provider to confirm the destination and any route limitations in writing. Entry-level placement should not be assumed to include a basement, stairs or every location a homeowner might call inside.

Send the information the provider requests through its agreed process and have the project team assess the route. If the service stops short of the final location, price the remaining move before deciding whether the upgrade earns its cost. Avoid improvising lifting or handling arrangements from a product photograph.

Find out what happens after placement

Ask who unpacks the equipment, deals with separate components and performs the manufacturer-required setup. Have the installer identify any building work and connections that remain outside the delivery service. Placement is a useful milestone, but it does not establish that the plunge has been installed, checked or prepared for use.

For example, you might pay to have a tub positioned while your wellness contractor handles the rest of the installation. That can be a sensible division if both parties know it. It becomes frustrating when each assumes the other will deal with the chiller or packaging.

Keep the purchase focused on delivery. Our physical-fit guide covers choosing the tub and installed space; our handover guide covers completion and owner instruction. Ask the qualified project team to apply the exact equipment instructions before use.

Coordinate the appointment with the room

Before scheduling, confirm when the destination and access route will be ready, who will attend and who can make decisions if the driver identifies a problem. Ask the seller about rescheduling, storage and unsuccessful-delivery terms. Do not infer that a change is free or that the carrier can hold the equipment indefinitely.

Check whether all parts travel together and what records accompany delivery. Ask how to report visible damage or missing items under the seller's process. If the installer comes later, agree where the equipment waits and who protects it in the meantime.

Compare the complete handoff

Put the options beside each other: seller's delivery charge, any separate move to the final position, unpacking and disposal, and the installation work still required. Use actual quotations instead of treating curbside as free once the truck arrives.

If your contractor already owns those tasks, another delivery upgrade may duplicate work. If nobody owns them, placement service may solve a real problem. Our wellness experts can help you work through that handoff with the supplier and project team before you place the order.
